Imagine being in a new world, in a new futuristic city. You open your blinds in your sky-high hotel, and everything is extraordinary:
as the blue sun radiates ice-cold air, the skyscrapers grow sideways, reaching for the aqua sunlight that cuts through the green sky.
This piece attempts to capture the absurdity of this world.
For this composition, I decided to play around with tonal harmony. For example, immediately after introducing the minor tonic chord,
it immediately goes into a major key a semitone below, where
the chromatic tones later resolve opposite of the intended direction. Then, the short idea ends with a v-i;
this lack of resolution is held up until the end of the development section, where a PAC (finally!) takes place.
